Saturdays during Lent - Quiet time in Chapel Sanctuary (Feb. 17, Feb. 24, Mar. 2, Mar. 9, Mar. 16, Mar. 23 and Mar. 30)

10 a.m. - Noon for you to come and spend some time in reading, reflection and rest with God.

The silence will begin as you quietly enter Chapel.  The time you spend there is up to you and activities can range from private prayer, meditating on one of the parables or just journaling what is on your heart. This personal time is to experience time alone with God amidst the prayerful silence and away from the busyness of the day.

Each Saturday, we will give you a suggested reading based on the book by Thomas Keating's "Meditations on the Parable of Jesus" and some guidance for those who wish to practice Lectio Divina.

At 11 a.m. individuals who practice Centering Prayer will have a 20 minute session in the Bridal Suite (room above the Narthex).

(The Fellowship Hall will not be open during this time.)

Mar. 16th - Sat. Movie at 4 p.m. in our Fellowship Hall

Journey of the Heart -  The Life of Henri Nouwen

A thoughtful and intimate 60 minute documentary about the life of Henri Nouwen. This unassuming, charismatic Dutch Catholic priest, psychologist, professor, scholar, writer and pastor - is considered by many of his contemporaries as one of the best and brightest minds of his time. Having written over 40 books on the spiritual life, Henri Nouwen books have sold over 8 million copies worldwide and been published in over 28 languages. Nouwen believed that what is most personal is most universal; he wrote, “By giving words to these intimate experiences I can make my life available to others.” Since his death in 1996, his life and work continue to inspire millions.

Sunday, March 24th:  Palm Sunday Service at 11:00 a.m.

Palm Sunday is celebrated by the blessing and distribution of palms, representing the palm branches that the crowd scattered before Christ as he rode into Jerusalem.

Just prior the start of our service, the congregation will gather in the Fellowship Hall to receive a palm branch and will proceed together to the Chapel.

Thursday, March 28th at 5 p.m.: Maundy Thursday

Maundy (Holy) Thursday is celebrated the Thursday before Easter in remembrance of the Last Supper, when Jesus introduced communion and washed the disciples’ feet.  The word "Maundy" is originated from the Latin word called "mandatum," which means "commandment."  This day is named after Jesus' commandment to his disciples to love one another and demonstrates the importance of humility and service.

For communion, there will be a table at the front of the sanctuary with Twelve place settings with the juice cups set up in a cross pattern at each place and at the middle of the table with a loaf of bread partially broken where at the time in the service for the elements (communion) to be served,  Twelve people at a time will come & sit at the table and take the elements and then quietly go back to their place as twelve more people will come up.

Foot-washing is a special, optional feature of our Maundy Thursday service.   The early Christian church introduced the custom to imitate the humility and selfless love of Jesus, who washed the feet of the Twelve Apostles at the Last Supper (John 13:1–15) the night before his Crucifixion.
